About Us

In 2003, a seed-sized idea led a small and dedicated team of individuals to establish a schools’ program committed to supporting students throughout their faith journey in the city of Booroondara. The team facilitated a number of successful in-school events and Lunchtime Groups, and before long the value of these activities led to expansion and a much broader impact.

Years later, Mustard now continues to be a pioneer for schools ministry in Victoria and beyond as we expand nationally. At this stage of the journey it can be easy to forget that it was a simple act of faith from a small, committed group that brought Mustard to its current place. Everything and everyone has a family of origin, and our faith-filled beginnings speak to the heart and soul of our identity. Our origin and subsequent history continue to shape us and inform all we do. For Mustard, it looks like small groups of committed students, staff and volunteers exploring daily what it means to sow seeds in order to grow God-sized dreams. It looks like students gathering to encourage each other in faith and life. It looks like churches investing in students to be light and life in the world. It looks like students impacting their schools positively with acts of service and life-affirming faith. It looks like mentors, leaders and staff giving rise to a Kingdom movement fuelled by God’s Spirit. It looks like lives being transformed by Jesus in schools in Victoria and beyond.
